Tour the MIT Data Center
Come check out the Data Center maintained by Information Systems & Technology (IS&T). Hear some institutional history about the computer systems and network servers used at MIT. Some highlights of this approximately 30-minute tour of the on-campus data center include: high-performance computing clusters that support various MIT researchers, including a (now retired, but still present) IBM Blue Gene; the backend of the distributed antenna system (DAS) for improving cellular service on campus; servers and storage equipment supporting many of MIT’s enterprise systems; and a magnetic tape library larger than an apartment.
Tours run approximately 30 minutes and start on the hour. While you wait, we have snacks and arcade games available.
