A Campus Built for Innovation: An exhibit celebrating the design and construction of the MIT campus
MIT’s campus in Cambridge—a unique feat of progressive engineering, constructed a century ago—was the manifestation of an innovative new approach to education. Its central structure was unlike any other building in the world. Architect William Welles Bosworth’s design was both ingenious and dramatic, a marriage of magnificence and modern technology that was destined to improve the human experience.
To celebrate the centennial of this campus, the Department of Facilities presents this exhibit featuring original architectural drawings, rare photographs, video interviews, an interactive timeline, and unique insights about the design and construction of campus buildings, including the original 1916 Main Group.
