Get Your Glow On! Hands-on Radioactive ExperimentsFamily friendly - adult with child image.

Get your daily dose of radiation... physics! See DIY Geiger counters, learn how to shield yourself from radiation, visualize background radiation using supercooled alcohol vapor in a cloud chamber, and use a high-voltage spark gap to detect the presence of alpha particles, a type of ionizing radiation. Come learn about what we do in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering, and how you can build your own radiation detector to find radiation in your environment.
