See STAR Lab’s Miniature Satellites
Visit the Space Telecommunications, Astronomy, and Radiation (STAR) Lab and check out its flight and prototype nanosatellite hardware. The STAR Lab is working on inexpensive student designed-and-built shoebox-sized satellites that measure climate temperature, clouds, and precipitation to assist our climatologists. You’ll also see backpack-sized satellites paired with mailbox-sized ground telescopes that can speedily and securely transfer large amounts of data using narrow laser beam links and MEMS micro-mirrors to steer the beams. The lab’s systems are destined for both earth and moon orbits.
