Community Giving at MIT will host several free workshops on April 19. Registration is required for the CPR classes. More information below.
Adult CPR Class

MIT EMS is offering a free one hour class that will give you comfort and proficiency with hands-only Adult CPR and AED use. This class will not give you a certification card, but it will teach you the techniques of hands-only CPR and give you time to practice compressions and AED use on a CPR mannequin.
The techniques taught are based on 2010 American Heart Guidelines for CPR and ECC, and you will receive real-time feedback from instructors from MIT's student-run ambulance service. Max. class attendance is 8 participants.
Infant CPR Class

MIT EMS is offering a free 1.5 hour Infant CPR and choking management class. The techniques taught are based on 2010 American Heart Guidelines for CPR and ECC and are applicable for infants up to 1 year old. Participants will have ample opportunity to practice the skills of performing compressions and providing rescue breathing and to get real-time feedback from the course instructor.
We ask that no children attend the training to give the best learning environment in this action-packed class. This class does not give a course completion card. Max. class attendance is 8 participants.
First Aid Training

MIT EMS is offering walk-in First Aid trainings. Come learn and practice any first aid skills you are interested in, including bleeding management, splinting, Epipen use, and choking management. Training materials will be provided, and training and feedback will be offered by instructors from MIT's student-run ambulance service.

Bone Marrow Information and Testing

The national organization Delete Blood Cancer DKMS will be available to talk with you about the process of bone marrow donation and answer your questions. You will also be provided with an informational booklet and additional resources to help make an informed decision about whether or not you'd like to donate. If you'd like to register at the drive, the process is quite simple. You will need to fill our a registration form at the booth, and provide a cheek swab sample. It's as simple as that; no blood will be drawn!
