Sunspots and Solar Prominences: Activity on our Sun [CANCELED]
ACTIVITY CANCELED!
Come view the closest star to us, our sun! The sun is a dynamic body with constantly varying spots drifting across its surface, and prominences larger than the Earth erupting along the limb. These phenomena and more will be visible through telescopes specially equipped with safe filters for solar observing. Gaze through telescopes at the sun and Venus and talk with astronomers about how stars work and how planets in our solar system respond to differing amounts of solar energy.
