MAGIC (More Active Girls in Computing) Presentation & Computer Science Hands-On Activity
MAGIC is a non-profit that encourages middle school and high school girls to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). We achieve this by providing 1-1, face-to-face or remote STEM mentoring by pairing the girls with accomplished women in STEM for a period of 3-6 months. MAGIC has been launched in 10+ schools in the U.S., and we have mentored 150+ middle school and high school girls. Dr. Bobby Simidchieva, an engineer at BBN Technologies in Cambridge, MA, and a veteran MAGIC mentor will introduce MAGIC and tell the story behind the MAGICal organization. In addition, there will be a hands-on computer science related activity for the attendees.
