The bright, percussive sounds of Indonesian gamelan orchestras reverberate throughout Southeast Asia, especially on the islands of Java and Bali. In Bali, gamelan ensembles provide musical offering for close to 10,000 ceremonies throughout the year. Join Gamelan Galak Tika at 3PM for a special outdoor event in front of Kresge Auditorium where they will perform highlights from their concert program later in the evening, as well as learn how to play the instruments in a fun, hands-on, and interactive workshop. No prior musical experience necessary. Come try something, new, fun, and exciting!!

And then come back to Kresge at 8PM for the full performance featuring Evan Ziporyn's Tire Fire, and other traditional and modern music for gamelan gong kebyar.
