Last year, MIT unveiled a permanent memorial to Sean Collier, the campus police officer ambushed by the Boston Marathon bombers on April 18, 2013. The memorial is the striking physical embodiment of "Collier Strong": 32 giant blocks of granite working together to form a vault around a central empty space.
